Why we choose cloth woven by hand, a few metres a day, over a factory roll, and what it means for the people who make it and the clothes you wear.

Start with the cloth

Good clothes begin long before the cutting table. The yarn, the weave and the dye decide how a piece feels on the first day and how it looks after a hundred washes.

Slow is a choice

A hand loom makes a few metres a day. That cloth breathes, drapes and softens in a way a factory roll does not, and every length carries small marks of the person who made it.

  • Wash cold, inside out, with similar colours.
  • Dry in the shade, never in a tumble dryer.
  • Iron linen while it is still a little damp.

Wear it often

Handwoven cotton and linen get better with wear. The more you put a piece on, the softer it becomes.

Buy less, choose well, and make it last.
